KW Welcome Home

Welcome Home is a refugee housing community and an exciting venture of International Teams Canada in partnership with Ray of Hope Inc.

As a Christian ministry, Welcome Home desires to provide a ‘welcome home’ to those who have been forced to flee their homeland due to war, persecution and oppression.

These circumstances have prompted us to think of a practical way to express the love of Jesus to refugees who have arrived in Kitchener, Ontario.

Every year at least 1400 new refugee arrivals come to settle in the K/W region, bringing with them stories of horror and sadness, many being severely traumatized because of the torture and abuse they have endured.

Many have been on the ‘Refugee Highway’ -a term we use for those whom have been fleeing around the world for years, with no place they can really call home.

The K/W region marks the end of the Refugee Highway for many of these forgotten people. They come in search of a new identity, a new life – a new place to start over again.

Our approach is to demonstrate and share Christ’s love and friendship with the tenants from every ethnic and religious background.

There are two self-contained one-bedroom apartments and nine single rooms available, plus a shared living room and kitchen. There are men and women’s washrooms with showers, along with laundry facilities. All residents come by referral only.
